The Glenbrook North Spartans entered their tilt with the Lane Tech Champions with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Glenbrook North strolled past Lane Tech with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 56-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Glenbrook North also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Lane Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melanie Blanco, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Grace Bush was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Glenbrook North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Lane Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenbrook North and Niles West will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Niles West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Glenbrook North is ranked 64th). As for Lane Tech, they will head out on the road to take on Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amundsen is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
