Carrabec hasn't had much luck against Richmond recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cobras will head out to face off against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Carrabec not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024 (when they won 12-0). They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over Greenville.
Zack Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other pitching news, Noah Lightbody looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Logan Caldwell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jackson Newton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Richmond beat Telstar 6-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.
Brady Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zander Steele, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Mecham, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Richmond pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9 runs thus far. As for Carrabec, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Carrabec might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Richmond in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cobras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
