This season hasn't been kind to the Vaughn White Tigers, who are still winless after their 16th game. They took a hard 69-50 fall against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences on Wednesday. Vaughn was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Vaughn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Gonzalez. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Andrade, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Vaughn's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vaughn will challenge Northridge Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' road trip will continue as they head out to face Sherman Oaks CES at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Sherman Oaks CES has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 249 points over their last four contests.
