The Centreville Wildcats lost against the Westfield Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Centreville took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Centreville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 76th).
When it comes to explaining why Centreville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaxson Davis. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Soren Kyne, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Westfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from William Robinson, who scored 20 points. Robinson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braden Norris, who scored 14 points.
Centreville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Centreville will head out on the road to take on the Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in South Lakes' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Westfield will take on the Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
