NEW LONDON, Conn. -
New London (Conn.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 34-14 win over
Windham (Willimantic, Conn.).
The Whalers put up 19 points in the opening quarter. New London scored on a touchdown run by
Nico Ramos*, a
Jose Garcia* touchdown run and a defensive touchdown.
After taking the lead on a Garcia* touchdown run in the first quarter, NL was up 19-14 at the half.
The Whalers expanded their lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. New London scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Orinn Parke*.
The loss comes after Windham defeated St. Bernard-Norwich RVT 40-14 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for NL, which lost to Ledyard last week, 21-3. The victory ended New London's two-game losing streak.
In a non-conference game next week New London (2-2) takes on Killingly, and Windham (3-2) will go up against Norwich Free Academy also in a non-conference game.
