The Blair Bears will be playing at home against the Crete Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blair is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Blair suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 57-33 defeat at the hands of Harlan. While losing is never fun, Blair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 92nd in Nebraska, while Harlan is ranked 31st in Iowa).
Blair used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Claire Anderson,
Joslyn Policky, and
Marin Sather posted six points each.
Crete suffered their closest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They fell just short of Scottsbluff by a score of 52-49.
The losing side was boosted by Anna Hohlen, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Amelia Hohlen was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Blair has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Crete, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Blair came out on top in a nail-biter against Crete in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, sneaking past 45-43. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Crete's Mack Steuer, who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Blair to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
