Easton Spriggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mataya Olson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Madi Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Kellis came up short against Lake Havasu on Thursday, falling 22-3. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Brooke Frinkle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Lopez, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
Willow Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Kellis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willow Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Kellis struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Willow Canyon's way against Kellis in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Willow Canyon made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
