This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. That and more in this week's report.
Welcome
Say hello to Grangeville: the team broke into the power rankings at the 21st position after its notable last-week performance. It had all the answers against Cole Valley Christian, winning 40 - 7. Grangeville did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
Can't Touch This
Hillcrest got a 21 - 17 win over Middleton last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Kyle Austin. Austin earned two touchdowns and 267 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Austin one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Highland (3rd in the power rankings) and Eagle (10th). Highland took its contest against Eagle by a conclusive 41 - 14 score. 41 is shaping up to be Highland's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over Rigby the game before.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Vallivue (8th in the power rankings) and Bishop Kelly (5th). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Bishop Kelly has three high-flying games in a row, Vallivue five), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
