Everett Alvarez is 2-8 against Salinas since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. Everett Alvarez is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Everett Alvarez will bounce into Friday's match after beating Hollister, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles skirted past the Haybalers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Haybalers since March 13, 2018.
Dani Amendola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Everett Alvarez saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michelle Wallace, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Salinas got themselves on the board against Palma on Wednesday, but Palma never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chieftains with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Kelsie Domenighini, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessica Cisneros, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Salinas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palma only posted a batting average of .125.
Salinas has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Everett Alvarez, their record is now 14-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Everett Alvarez has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Salinas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everett Alvarez came up short against Salinas in their previous matchup back in April, falling 3-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
