Softball Recap: Foothill Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Foothill came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Shasta Wolves. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Elisea Wiegand was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Taylor Bates was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Foothill pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Shasta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Foothill is set to face off against their familiar foe Pleasant Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Shasta will challenge rival Red Bluff at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
