Lapel and Heritage Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2016, but not for long. The Bulldogs will challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lapel had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Rushville on Friday. The Bulldogs blew past the Lions 41-8. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Devin Craig produced another solid effort throwing for 268 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 passes. What's more, he racked up 149.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. A healthy portion of Craig's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Andrew Evelo, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Heritage Christian waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 40-14 win.
Lapel better keep an eye on Eli Nix. He was instrumental in Heritage Christian's win, rushing for 133 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 218 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Tysen Pauwels, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Heritage Christian's defense made their presence known, laying out Tavien Fox three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Justus Klingerman, Aidan Lyon, and Sam Sponseller, who each picked up one sack apiece. Klingerman was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Lapel's record is now 6-0. As for Heritage Christian, their record now sits at 4-2.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Craig and Nix. Craig just won't slow down this season and has thrown 17 touchdowns while averaging 199.7 passing yards per game. Nix has been a dominant force too and has thrown 12 touchdowns while averaging 184.8 passing yards per game.
Lapel lost to Heritage Christian on the road by a decisive 40-21 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nix, who rushed for 148 yards and three scores while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 242 yards and one TD. Now that the Bulldogs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
