The Windham Whippets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 77-55 defeat at the hands of New London. While losing is never fun, Windham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Whalers are ranked 14th).
Windham's loss came despite strong showings from Tahj Jones and Malcolm Hunter. Jones scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Hunter scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games.
Devan Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four steals for New London. Williams hasn't dropped below 16 points for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Savahn Warren, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Windham now has a losing record at 7-8. As for New London, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windham will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New London, they will play host again and welcome the Wildcats, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Norwich Free Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
