Basketball Game Preview: Catholic Central Irish vs. Fairbanks Panthers

Catholic Central is 2-7 against Fairbanks since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Catholic Central Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Fairbanks Panthers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Catholic Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, Catholic Central strolled past Greenon with points to spare, taking the game 58-43.

Catholic Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zachary Thompson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. Thompson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Berkeley Little, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Fairbanks put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They escaped with a win against Pleasant by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40. The 41-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Catholic Central's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Fairbanks, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Catholic Central might still be hurting after the 56-30 loss they got from Fairbanks in their previous matchup back in January. Can Catholic Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
