Melvindale and Thurston are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Melvindale Cardinals' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Thurston Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Melvindale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Melvindale scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Romulus 85-53 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Melvindale has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, even though Garden City scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Thurston still came out on top. Thurston secured a 67-62 W over Garden City. Given Thurston's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Garden City is ranked 676th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Melvindale back to even at 6-6. As for Thurston, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Everything went Melvindale's way against Thurston in their previous matchup last Friday as Melvindale made off with a 68-43 victory. Will Melvindale repeat their success, or does Thurston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
