Baseball Recap: Lakeside School Finds Playoff Glory Versus Coosa Valley Academy

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lakeside School walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels on Monday. Considering the Chiefs have won 31 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Coosa Valley Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Demetrius Hardnett, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up three walks). Hardnett has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Conner Britton was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Brayden Vachon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lakeside School is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 50-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they dropped their record down to 17-21 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside School beat the Rebels by a score of 6-1 later that day.
