It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Menendez Falcons can now relate to. They fell to the Panthers 58-52. Menendez just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Menendez's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Perry, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perry has scored all season. Ganyon Beckstead was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Elijah Laird was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Pine Ridge. Laird is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Canyon Powers, who scored six points along with 12 assists and five steals.
Menendez has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Pine Ridge, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-13.
Menendez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pine Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mainland at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Mainland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.
