The Y Yuma waltzed into their match on Thursday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wiggins 79-48 at home. Y has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Y to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonathan Thomson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Thomson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Sheffield, who scored 19 points along with five assists.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Adams, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jack Epple, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Even though they lost, Wiggins were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Y's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Wiggins, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Y will head out on the road to take on Strasburg at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 69.93 points so far this season, Y's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Strasburg better be ready for a challenge. As for Wiggins, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Caliche at 1:00 p.m. Wiggins is facing Caliche at the right time seeing as Caliche is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
