1A District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012
James (J.T.) Hearn of Taylor ran for the longest rushing play in 1A District 8 this season against The Villages Charter last week. Hearn scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 161 on the day as his team defeated the Buffalo.
Crescent City moved up to 425 from 460 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Raiders climbed the ranks as a result of a 11-6 win over Florida A&M.
Taylor's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Henry threw for 34 and one touchdown and Hearn had 19 yards receiving. Dexter Rodriguez helped Taylor's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Taylor's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Henry has thrown for 236 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Hearn has 12 catches for 141 yards. Rodriguez leads the league in rushing with 327 yards.
Crescent City and the Rattlers played the most hotly contested game in 1A District 8 this week, with Crescent City eventually emerging with a 11-6 victory.
