Alexander entered their tilt with Nixon on Saturday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over the Mustangs. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 364th).

Alexander's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Nixon, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Alexander wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-61 defeat against Ray on the 9th. As for Nixon, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Palmview at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. The contest will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
