Lyndhurst and Bloomfield are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Golden Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Bengals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyndhurst will be strutting in after a victory while Bloomfield will be coming in after a defeat.
Lyndhurst will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Weehawken on Tuesday. The Golden Bears blew past the Indians 10-2. The Golden Bears have beaten the Indians the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Indians has come to flipping the script.

Tyler Herman
Tyler Herman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lyndhurst is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Herman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryli Pineiro, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayson Bellenger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Bloomfield's offense. They fell just short of Belleville by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brady Cole was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Bloomfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lyndhurst, their record now sits at 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lyndhurst has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bloomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Lyndhurst's way against Bloomfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Lyndhurst made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
