Even though the Bruce Trojans have not done well against the Vardaman Rams recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Bruce came out on top against Vardaman by a score of 56-44. The victory was familiar territory for Bruce who now have three in a row.
Bruce got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was A'toria Knox out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Zoey Holmes, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Bruce's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Vardaman, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Bruce will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Okolona at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2024. Vardaman won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Pontotoc at 9:00 a.m. on December 22nd. North Pontotoc presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vardaman in Mississippi (North Pontotoc is ranked 51st, while Vardaman is ranked 237th).
