Baseball Recap: Evergreen Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Evergreen extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 15-5-1 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wheat Ridge Farmers a 2-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-3 back in April.

James Mauro was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Evergreen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheat Ridge struck out nine times.

As for Wheat Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it nine in a row.

On Wheat Ridge's side, Henry Deknikker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

At the plate, Wheat Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Trione, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
