The Barry Western Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Brown County Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Barry Western is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Barry Western suffered a rough 72-52 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Barry Western can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Tigers are ranked 310th).
Barry Western's defeat came about despite a quality game from Mason Smith, who scored 22 points. That was a full 42.3% of Barry Western's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Casen Tobias, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Brown County had to suffer through a rough 71-36 loss at the hands of the Saukees. Brown County has struggled against the Saukees recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Barry Western has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Brown County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.
Barry Western was taken down by the Hornets 68-35 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Barry Western avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
