Greenville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Central Montcalm Hornets 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Yellow Jackets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Emily Rice made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Rice was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Alexa Hyler was incredible, firing off four triples, two runs, and one RBI while going 4-for-4. Aubrie Uebele was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
