Pinellas Park was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lakewood on Wednesday. The Patriots blew past the Spartans 17-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the game before.
Madison Wagner was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Birge, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Pinellas Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University entered their match against Calvary Christian on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hurricanes fell 6-3 to the Warriors.
Mylie Stout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Palm Harbor University saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Via Muller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Pinellas Park pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
Pinellas Park suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Palm Harbor University when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
