North Marion and Williston are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the North Marion Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. North Marion comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
North Marion suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 60-13 loss at the hands of Dunnellon. While losing is never fun, North Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while Dunnellon is ranked 73rd).
In what's become a running theme this season, Williston gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Union County 67-11 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Williston has posted since December 4, 2023.
Natreana Akanni was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Kierce Solomon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
North Marion bumped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Williston, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
North Marion was taken down by Williston 66-5 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point North Marion was down 53-2.
