East Dubuque has won three straight games at home, while Dakota has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Warriors will welcome the Indians at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
East Dubuque's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on West Carroll with a sharp 10-0 win.
Meanwhile, Dakota got the win against Durand/Pecatonica on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Braxton Mazurkiewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Dakota's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Brodie Goode was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Dakota is undefeated when Goode posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Bowers, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Dakota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
East Dubuque's win bumped their record up to 10-6-1. As for Dakota, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-11.
Everything went East Dubuque's way against Dakota in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as East Dubuque made off with a 15-5 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
