The Centauri Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-44 win over The Vanguard School. The victory was just what Centauri needed coming off of a 66-40 loss in their prior contest.
Hannah Curtis was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Centauri's points. Rylie McCarroll was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The Vanguard School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Blanchard, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Blanchard scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Christensen, who scored 12 points.
Centauri's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for The Vanguard School, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centauri will face off against Pagosa Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pagosa Springs will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for The Vanguard School, they will head out on the road to face off against Florence on Tuesday. Florence is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
