Baseball Recap: Tamalpais Has No Trouble Against Marin Catholic

Tamalpais made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marin Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks put the hurt on the Marin Catholic Wildcats with a sharp 17-7 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Red Tailed Hawks, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Will Gensler was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gensler was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other pitching news, Oliver Shore looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Maxwell Fiek, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Stoll, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Tamalpais was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in three consecutive games.

Tamalpais pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Marin Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Tamalpais will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marin Catholic: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
