The Academe of the Oaks Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Academe of the Oaks had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a rough 73-12 loss at the hands of Shiloh Hills Christian. Academe of the Oaks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-7.
Meanwhile, Horizon Christian Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They strolled past St. John Bosco Academy with points to spare, taking the game 47-29.
Horizon Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Nyla Black, who scored 23 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. The match was Black's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Iva Moore, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Academe of the Oaks' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Horizon Christian Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Academe of the Oaks took a serious blow against Horizon Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2019, falling 39-8. Can Academe of the Oaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
