The Monarch Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monarch has three straight wins, Pembroke Pines Charter has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Monarch made easy work of Olympic Heights and carried off a 17-1 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Sara Connor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Faith Lindeman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Monarch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Pembroke Pines Charter came up short against South Plantation on Thursday, falling 11-4.
Yenisett Yescas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Monarch now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monarch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .421. However, it's not like Pembroke Pines Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monarch might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Pembroke Pines Charter in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
