The Omaha R Roadrunners kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 35-24 to Veritas Christian. Omaha R lost against Veritas Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-22 score last time.
Rachael Gaspers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Veritas Christian, scoring 17 points along with seven steals. The contest was Gaspers' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alainie Bessent was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Omaha R's defeat was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.0 points per game. As for Veritas Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.
Omaha R does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Veritas Christian will be playing at home against Faith Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
