The Fairfield Falcons will head out to square off against the Burbank Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.
Fairfield came out on top against West Campus on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Falcons blew past the Warriors 15-7. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won three games in a row.
Karli Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Robinson was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Giron, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Claudia Lucero, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Campus only posted a batting average of .276.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Burbank was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Foothill, falling 17-2.
Burbank's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfield, their record is now 9-6.
Everything went Fairfield's way against Burbank in their previous meeting back in March, as Fairfield made off with a 25-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
