Port St. Joe has enjoyed a seven-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Franklin County Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Port St. Joe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Port St. Joe, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-27 loss to Liberty County.
Despite the defeat, Port St. Joe had strong showings from Jayla Hill, who scored ten points along with six steals, and Ty'Shawn Shackelford, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shackelford has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Franklin County fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against St. John Paul II on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Panthers 38-33. Franklin County's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Port St. Joe's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Port St. Joe came up short against Franklin County when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 33-22. Can Port St. Joe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
