The Sardis Lions waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Glencoe 56-39. That's another feather in the cap for Sardis, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Glencoe's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alli Jo Amos, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Nowak, who scored four points along with two steals.
Sardis' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. As for Glencoe, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Sardis won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Southside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sardis in Alabama (Southside is ranked 35th, while Sardis is ranked 145th). As for Glencoe, they will be playing at home against Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gaston comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
