The Spearfish Spartans will face off against the Belle Fourche Broncs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belle Fourche took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Spearfish, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, Spearfish made easy work of Sturgis Brown and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Scoopers: they've now won eight in a row.
One reason for the win was Spearfish's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-12.
Taylor Vitto was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had nine digs and two aces.
Vitto wasn't the only good servers: Spearfish was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Belle Fourche came up short against Douglas on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Broncs haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
While Belle Fourche ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-19.
Belle Fourche's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Spearfish, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Everything went Spearfish's way against Belle Fourche in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Spearfish made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Broncs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
