Sierra Grande was led to victory by Jaylyn Quezada and Alexia Gonzalez. Quezada scored 17 points along with eight steals and five rebounds, while Gonzalez almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naylani Velasquez, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Sierra Grande's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Walsenburg, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra Grande will face off against Creede at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Creede will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Walsenburg, they will head out on the road to face off against La Veta at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully La Veta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
