It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Dr. Krop Lightning ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 win over Jackson. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Dr. Krop's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Washington led the charge by scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Washington has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Ferguson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Jackson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordany Fils-Aime. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assist. Fils-Aime has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Leonard Clark was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Even though they lost, Jackson were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dr. Krop only racked up ten assists.
Dr. Krop has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Dr. Krop will head out on the road to challenge Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palmetto knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Dr. Krop likes a good challenge. As for Jackson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
