Softball Recap: Grayslake Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Libertyville, Grayslake Central was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They skirted past the Carmel Corsairs 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since May 11, 2024.

Kaylie Chapman looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Danielle Eckenstahler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Kate Davies was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Grayslake Central pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carmel, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Looking ahead, Grayslake Central will host Grant Community at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carmel, they will head out to take on Nazareth Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
