If the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats were feeling good off their 75-49 takedown of the Seminole Ridge Hawks last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Royal Palm Beach took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palm Beach Lakes on Friday. It was the first time this season that Royal Palm Beach let down their fans at home.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Coney, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Coney hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Michael Vilsaint was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Royal Palm Beach's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Palm Beach Lakes, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Royal Palm Beach will head out on the road to square off against Dwyer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dwyer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Royal Palm Beach in Florida (Dwyer is ranked 26th, while Royal Palm Beach is ranked 157th). As for Palm Beach Lakes, they will be playing at home against Park Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Palm Beach Lakes likes a good challenge.
