On Monday, the DC International Dragons faced the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. DC International took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The matchup was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but DC International couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, DC International still got an impressive performance from Damani Gross, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gross has scored all season. Jordan Mason was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
DC International has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DC International is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the EAGLES at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Capital City Public Charter School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 421 points over their last seven matchups. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richard Wright Public Charter School has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
