The Desert Vista Thunder are ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Woodgrove Wolverines. Desert Vista skirted past Woodgrove 58-55. The victory was familiar territory for Desert Vista who now have five in a row.
Desert Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shay Ijiwoye, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Desert Vista won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bishop Ireton at 9:00 p.m. on January 13th. Bishop Ireton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Desert Vista likes a good challenge. As for Woodgrove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against John Champe at 7:15 p.m. John Champe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Woodgrove is ranked fifth).
