The North Middlesex Regional Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Oakmont Regional Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, North Middlesex Regional lost to Hudson on the road by a decisive 40-21 margin. North Middlesex Regional has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, North Middlesex Regional saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cade Callahan, who picked up 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reardon jr., who threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oakmont Regional fell victim to Maynard's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Tigers at home and fell 35-0. Having soared to a lofty 39 points in the game before, Oakmont Regional couldn't push the score so high this time.
North Middlesex Regional's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Oakmont Regional, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
North Middlesex Regional was able to grind out a solid victory over Oakmont Regional in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 36-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Middlesex Regional since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
