Given Chancellor's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while St. Michael the Archangel is ranked 234th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chancellor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendall Scott led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Scott has scored at least 25% of Chancellor's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Johnson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anjalia Bryant , who scored 15 points along with three steals. The contest was Bryant 's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Janaye Martinez was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Chancellor and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for St. Michael the Archangel, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
