The Briggsdale Falcons were the 65-44 winner over the Flatirons Academy Bison when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Briggsdale took a 67-51 bruising from the Bison on Saturday.
When it comes to explaining why Briggsdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Fiscus. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51% of Briggsdale's points, marking the 15th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Glass, who scored three points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Briggsdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flatirons Academy only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Flatirons Academy was led to victory by Parker Wilson and Pistol Chavez. Wilson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Chavez scored 22 points along with five steals. Chavez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Abeyta, who scored ten points.
Briggsdale's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Flatirons Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Briggsdale will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. As for Flatirons Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mile High Academy is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
