Gaither and Chamberlain are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Gaither Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against the Chamberlain Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaither is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Gaither is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Blake with a sharp 21-2 win on Monday. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Kacey Wilkes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Chyann Herring and Carolyn Emanuel did most of the damage at the plate: Herring scored five runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Emanuel went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Emanuel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Quintero, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Gaither was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chamberlain, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Strawberry Crest on Thursday.
Like Gaither, Chamberlain also got a great game from a two-way player: Daria Bush. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Bush has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eliana Rivera, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Syncere Statham was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Chamberlain pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Gaither, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Gaither beat Chamberlain 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gaither since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
