The Troy Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 46-23 loss at the hands of West Carrollton. Troy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Carrollton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Troy's loss came despite strong showings from Emma LeVan and Carmen Brooks. LeVan scored four points, while Brooks scored five points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
West Carrollton had a senior duo take command as Selena Frost dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds and Iyanna Thompson scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Frost has scored at least 25% of West Carrollton's points. Ava Williams was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Troy bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.3 points per game. As for West Carrollton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy will play host again and welcome Miami East, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami East will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for West Carrollton, they will be playing at home against Greenville at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
