While losing is never fun, Ellwood Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Calhoun is ranked 215th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calhoun to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremy Hardy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Ladarrius Thigpen, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Ellwood Christian bumped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.2 points per game. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Ellwood Christian will head out on the road to face off against Autaugaville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun, they will be playing at home against Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
