With a playoff game on the line, the Hawkins Hawks rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Wolverines as they made off with a 66-44 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Hawkins who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for De'Meiko Crawford, who scored 27 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Alvarado, who scored nine points.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peter Egwurube, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Egwurube has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 16 times he's played. Shomare' Gray was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Hawkins pushed their record up to 14-13 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Foshay, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Hawkins will head out on the road to challenge Sotomayor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 56.85 points so far this season, Hawkins' high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Sotomayor better be ready for a challenge. Foshay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
