Baseball Recap: Evart Wins Going Away Against Au Gres-Sims

Evart won the last time they faced Au Gres-Sims and things went their way on Friday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Wolverines. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aidan Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sean Jackson and Aaron VanAssche did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while VanAssche went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits VanAssche has posted over his last 14 contests. Kade Morgan was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Evart and bumps their season record up to 18-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Au Gres-Sims, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evart will welcome Kingsley at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stags will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Au Gres-Sims, they will take on Alcona at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
